Third Eye Chakra
The Third Eye Chakra, the 6th chakra, gives us insight, premonitions, psychic abilities.
Through the Third Eye Chakra you may connect to the higher self to seek and receive inner guidance.
Your psychic and telepathic abilities may become heightened, and you’ll be able to trust your inner wisdom.
Signs of an unbalanced Third Eye Chakra include emotional or mental issues such as fuzzy thinking or confusion, or physical issues such as headaches, sinusitis, vision problems, nightmares, and anxiety disorders.
Addictions to foods, and issues with weight, can be directly related to the Third Eye Chakra, especially when we’re addicted to foods that stimulate the brain with sugar and caffeine, such as colas and chocolate.
When the Third Eye Chakra is balanced, we have an ability to think clearly, trust our inner wisdom and have a healthy reliance on our intuitive powers.
Third Eye Chakra balance is intimately tied into the health of the pineal gland, which controls our entire hormonal system. It also oversees the brain, and is directly linked to our moods through our thoughts and working of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin.
If you overeat or make poor food choices when you’re over-stressed or in a bad mood, you’ll want to seek other ways to soothe yourself such as yoga and meditation.
The Ajna chakra is positioned in the stomata, in the brain, directly behind behind the center of the forehead. Its ksehtram, or superficial activation site, is in the eyebrow region at the position of the “third eye.
Just above and between the two eyebrows, on the forehead, over the bridge of the nose. Hindu women wear a Bindi, a circular dot in this region on the forehead, to symbolize or mark the Third Eye Chakra.
The letter “Ham” is written in white on the left petal and represents Shiva. “Ksham”, written in white on the right petal, represents Shakti.
These two petals also represent the manifest and the unmanifest mind, and are sometimes said to represent the pineal and pituitary glands.
The seed syllable is Aum, or “Pranava Om,” the supreme sound.
In Sanskrit, the word Ajna meaning Third Eye is used to for it. The Third or Inner Eye is considered as The Gateway to Enlightenment or The Realm of Higher Consciousness. The sixth chakra is thus the center of inner perception and intuition. Our ideas, dreams, ambitions, goals, inner strength and self-image all develop from this Chakra.
The sixth chakra is the center of clairvoyance, visions, transcendence of time and space and integrates all the gifts of wisdom from the Spirit to bridge yourself with the Divine. People who have developed this ability to “see” more than most people have a bright shining ball here that protects and draws energy into the brain.
The eyes, nose, ears, brain, nervous system, the pituitary and pineal glands and their subsequent functions are influenced by the Third Eye Chakra.
Our ideas, dreams, goals, values and our “self” image all begin here. The third eye is our gateway into higher realms of consciousness. When one becomes enlightened you understand fully, without a doubt that we are truly all
When your Ajna is in balance with your other chakras, you will begin opening up to Universal Knowledge and truly understand that you are the Creator in your Reality! You will experience Higher states of consciousness, allowing you to astral travel, have out of body experiences, and receive messages from your Spirit Guides, Angels and other Enlightened Beings. You will be very intuitive, have a great memory, and will be able to learn without a problem.
If you have an over active third eye you may experience stress accompanied by frequent headaches that happen in the forehead or temples. You may become delusional and create circumstances in your mind that are not really happening (a mental disease). An individual with over-activity in this chakra may also tend to be judgmental, unsympathetic or over-intellectual in their thinking.
If your third eye is under active you will probably have difficulty in understanding the spiritual side of the world and the connection between your inner and outer reality. You may lack empathy for the people in your life, lack common sense, or intuition. Memory and learning can be affected if the third eye is not balanced.
Brain cysts, tumors, strokes, blindness, deafness, seizures, insomnia, learning disabilities, spinal dysfunction, panic, depression, addiction, migraines, headaches, dizziness, nausea, sinus problems, ear aches, hormonal imbalance and equilibrium dysfunction.
When two people mix the energies from this chakra their clairvoyance increases. If they both are relatively pure in this center, their understanding of different things will be increased considerably and figures appear around them that are shining green and beautiful as seen from the higher realms. With very clear people there is seen a ring showing the whole story of creation with the deep understanding of what has happened to him/her and the other within the whole dimension of time all at once.
Third eye problems are mutually intensified if the chakras are unclean, especially in a marriage or other relationship. I one person has an unclean power point then the other must be careful not to be affected by all things that come from there. This is often the reason for divorces. The one with the cleanest chakra intuitively feels betrayed, left out or has simple jealousy. If one is on the way to spiritual enlightenment then be aware of ways to protect from unwanted influences.
The third eye (also known as the inner eye) is a mystical and esoteric concept referring to a speculative invisible eye which provides perception beyond ordinary sight.
In some traditions such as Hinduism, the third eye is said to be located around the middle of the forehead, slightly above the junction of the eyebrows. In other traditions, as in Theosophy, it is believed to be connected with the pineal gland. According to this theory, humans had in far ancient times an actual third eye in the back of the head with a physical and spiritual function. Over time, as humans evolved, this eye atrophied and sunk into what today is known as the pineal gland.
The Brow Chakra is associated with the parts of the consciousness concerned with the spiritual view, and the home of the Spirit, the Being within. This level of consciousness is associated with what western traditions call the unconscious or subconscious, the part of our consciousness that directs our actions and our life. From this level we are aware of the motivations behind our actions. We can watch our outer theater from an inner point of view.
This chakra is associated with the carotid plexus, and the nerves on each side of the face, and the pituitary gland. Headaches in the temples or center of the forehead are associated with tensions at this level. This chakra controls the entire endocrine system as a system, and the process of growth.
The Brow chakra, also known as the Third Eye, is associated with extra sensory perception (ESP), the set of all inner senses that correspond to the outer senses, which together comprise spirit-to-spirit communication. The element associated with this chakra is a vibration known as the Inner Sound, the sound that one hears in their ears that does not depend upon something in the physical world. Some consider it a pathological condition. In some of the eastern traditions the ability to hear this is considered a necessary prerequisite to further spiritual growth.
The third eye chakra is associated with the color indigo. Simply lighting this color of candle and relaxing while focusing on this chakra can bring it into balance. Also wearing indigo colored clothing or surrounding yourself with this color of flower can bring harmony within the chakra.
