Angels who function as heavenly messengers and soldiers.
“The first orders of the second sphere are those beings that have been known as powers. They are the bearers of the conscience of all of humanity, the keepers of your collective history. The angels of birth and death are in this category. They are able to draw down and hold the energy of the divine plan the same way trees draw down the energy of the Sun. In this way, the powers can send all of you a vision of a world spiritual network. Just as you have a heart, liver, kidneys, and other organs in your body, all of the world’s religions are different organs in the emerging spiritual body of this planet.”
Principalities – the Guardian Angels of cities, nations and rulers, and guards against the invasion of evil angels.
In the New Testament Principalities refers to one type of spiritual (metaphysical) being which are now quite hostile to God and human beings. Along with the principalities are the powers and cosmological powers, and thrones. The clarity of the New Testament witness helps see that these beings were created through Christ and for Him. Given their hostility to God and humans due to sin, Christ’s ultimate rule over them (ibid) expresses the reign of the Lord over all in the cosmos. This is the Lordship of Christ, which reveals God’s tremendous salvation in conquering sin and death at the cross, and now takes place in the Church.
The Principalities, also known as Princedoms or Rulers, are the angels that, under the direction of the Dominions, directly watch over large groups and institutions, including nations and the Church. They rule over smaller groups of angels, rather like the middle management of an organization, ensuring the fulfillment of the divine will.
The angels of the third sphere are those who most directly guide, protect, and send messages to human beings, and can be likened to the front-line employees of a company, directly interacting with the customer—us. While still absolutely pure, wise, and powerful, these angels are furthest from God in the angelic hierarchy, and so are better able to communicate with man in ways we can understand and even withstand. Think on when God directly communicated with Moses—the event, the barest glimpse of God, turned the man’s hair white. There is a reason God communicates and acts through the different levels of angels.
Beyond the group of archangels are the principalities. They are the guardian angels of all large groups, from cities and nations to recent human creations such as multi-national corporations. These might more accurately now be called integrating angels. The Principalities guard continents, countries, cities, and other large groups , as they work toward and for global reform. They are found where groups of people meet and congregate for everything from learning, decision making and having fun. The channel positive energies from the physical to divinity and from divinity to the physical. They are protectors of politics and religions and they watch human leaders to help them make the right and just decisions in human affairs.
Call on the Principalities where extinction of animals is concerned, inadequate leadership or ruler ship (in any form from churches to politics to companies), for human rights and against discrimination.
They are the head of the final choir and preside over the third hierarchy. They guide and protect the world’s nations, towns and cities, directly watch over the mortal world and are executive in regard to the visible world of men. Religion and of politics are also guarded by them and, “as such, they are assumed to be given more freedom to act than the lesser angels below them and are responsible for carrying out divine acts concerning their area of jurisdiction. Finally, they are given to the task of managing the duties of the angels.”
“The execution of the angelic ministrations consists in announcing divine things. Now, in the execution of any action there are beginners and leaders; this-the leadership-belongs to the Principalities.”
“The name of the Celestial Principalities signifies their Godlike princeliness and authoritativeness in an Order which is holy and most fitting to the princely Powers, and that they are wholly turned towards the Prince of Princes, and lead others in princely fashion, and that they are formed, as far as possible, in the likeness of the Source of Principality, and reveal Its super essential order by the good Order of the princely Powers.”
We usually see these entities wearing a crown and carrying a scepter. Their duty also is to carry out the orders given to them by the Dominions and grant blessings to the material world. They oversee groups of people. As beings related to the world of the ideas, they inspire living things to many branches of knowledge such art and/or science.
“Beyond the group of archangels are the principalities. They are the guardian angels of all large groups, from cities and nations to recent human creations such as multi-national corporations. These might more accurately now be called integrating angels. There are many of these beings involved with your planet….one particular integrating angel who carries the pattern of a unified global order in its heart.”
The Principalities (lat. principatus, pl. principatus) are shown wearing a crown and carrying a sceptre. Their duty also is said to be to carry out the orders given to them by the Dominions and bequeath blessings to the material world. Their task is to oversee groups of people. As beings related to the world of the germinal ideas, they are said to inspire living things to many things such as art or science.
The Principalities may possibly be equated with the Lords of Form, a hierarchy of Elohim astrologically associated to Scorpio, presented in The Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception. They inhabit, in Rosicrucian cosmology, the World of Thought in the Region of Abstract Thought (higher region; the Christian Third Heaven), which is the home of Jehova, The Holy Spirit.
The Principalities are also translated, from the Greek term “arche”, as Princedoms and also Rulers (see Greek root in Eph 3:10).
These celestial beings appear to collaborate, in power and authority (as implied in their etymology source), with the Powers (Authorities). Rulers develop ideologies whereas Authorities write the documents and doctrines. Both Rulers (Principalities) and Authorities (Powers) are involved in formulating ideologies. However, Rulers are more focused on specific lines of thought whereas Authorities are all-encompassing.
Paul used the term rule and authority in Ephesians 1:21, and rulers and authorities in Ephesians 3:10. He may have been referring to the rulers and authorities of men or societies, instead of referring to angels.
Archangels – probably the best known of all Angels. They carry God’s most important messages to humans. They also command God’s ‘armies’ of Angels in the constant battle with the “sons of darkness.”
The word archangel comes from the Greek (archangelos), meaning chief angel. It derives from the Greek archo, meaning to be first in political rank or power; and aggelos which means messenger. This suggests that they are the highest ranking angels. We know Archangels from the Bible, but we don’t know as much as we may think. We usually associate these “chief” angels as the great heralds of good news, announcing the great and most glorious. According to Dionysius the Areopagite, their principle service consists in revealing prophecies, knowledge, and understanding of God’s will, which they receive from the higher orders of angels and announce to the lower order ( the angels), and through them, to men. St. Gregory says that the Archangels “strengthen people in the holy faith, enlightening their minds with the light of knowledge of the holy Gospel and revealing the mysteries of devout faith.”
The archangels are often presented in popular culture as the most powerful of all angels. In reality, these beings, archangels with a lower-case “a,” as opposed to the very different Archangels with an upper-case “A,” are in the third Sphere, and are the chiefs and rulers of the messenger angels. Their presence is often the herald of immense change, and their words reveal knowledge, God’s prophecies, and grand human understanding of the will of God.
These angels are also the workers of miracles, causing events to occur on behalf of humankind. They are said, by St. Gregory, to “strengthen people in the holy faith, enlightening their minds with the light of knowledge of the holy Gospel and revealing the mysteries of devout faith.”
These angels are a reminder that God grants us understanding and wisdom, should we ask with sincere hearts. Pray to hear and understand the will of God, and you may be visited by an archangel.
They are normally described as important or special angels. However, here the term is used as the second to last rank in the celestial hierarchy. Archangels are entrusted with the more important missions to men. They act as the leaders in the divine army during battle and protect the Church under the leadership of St. Michael. They serve as guardians of guardians of great personages, such as the Holy Father, Cardinals, Bishops, Rulers of States, this includes others with special work to do for the glory of God upon earth. Finally they are charged with overseeing the duties of the angels.
The confusion about the collective celestial rank of archangels and archangels arises from “the ancient Hebraic way of defining angels which was simple angel and archangel. It was not until later that the hierarchy was defined, and many of the angels previous named as simply archangels were given new posts.”
“The choir of the holy Archangels is placed in the same threefold Order as the Celestial Principalities; for, as has been said, there is one Hierarchy and Order which includes these and the Angels. But since each Hierarchy has first, middle and last ranks, the holy Order of Archangels, through its middle position, participates in the two extremes, being joined with the most .holy Principalities and with the holy Angels.”
Archangels govern affairs of the messengers of the various realms. Their presence on earth usually signals great change. They can take human form and can cause occurrences or change the tide of events for/on behalf of humanity. They are perhaps the most confusing of the Angelic Orders in that we often use their rank for other angelic beings. In addition, they are among the few angelic beings mentioned specifically by name in the New Testament (See Jude 1:9 where the Archangel Michael contends with Satan over the body of Moses). Gabriel, although not specifically named an Archangel in the Scriptures, is generally regarded as such in Christian thought.
Archangels are generally taken to mean “chief or leading angel” they are the most frequently mentioned throughout the Bible. They may be of this or other hierarchies as Michael Archangel, who is a princely Seraph. The Archangels have a unique role as God’s messenger to the people at critical times in history and salvation as in The Annunciation and Apocalypse. A feast day celebrating the Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael is celebrated throughout the Church Sep 29. A special part of the Byzantine Liturgy invokes the “Cherubic Hymn” which celebrates these archangels and the guardian angels particularly.
Of special significance is Michael as he has been invoked as patron and protector by the Church from the time of the Apostles. The Eastern Rite and many others place him over all the angels, as Prince of the Seraphim. He is described as the “chief of princes” and as the leader of the forces of heaven in their triumph over Satan and his followers. The angel Gabriel first appeared in the Old Testament in the prophesies of Daniel, he announced the prophecy of 70 weeks. He appeared to Zechariah to announce the birth of St. John the Baptist. It was also Gabriel which proclaimed the Annunciation of Mary to be the mother of our Lord and Savior. The angel Raphael first appeared in the book of Tobit. He announces “I am the Angel Raphael, one of the seven who stand before the throne of God.”
“Beyond the angels are the beings you are used to calling the archangels. But we suggest that you call them over lighting angels, since they tend the larger arenas of human endeavor. These beings are from a different family from the angels. There are m any different kinds of over lighting angels in this larger family. The four you are most familiar with are Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, and Uriel.”
Only Michael and Gabriel are mentioned by name in the Bible.
Michael is the only angel the Bible names expressly as an archangel. In Daniel he is referred to as “one of the chief princes”. The word “prince” here is the ancient Hebrew word sar, which means: “a head person (of any rank or class), a chief, a general etc.”
In most Christian traditions Gabriel is also considered an archangel, but there is no direct literal support for this assumption.
The name of the archangel Raphael appears only in the Deuterocanonical Book of Tobit (Tobias). Tobit is considered canonical by Catholics, Orthodox and some Protestants. Raphael said to Tobias that he was “one of the seven who stand before the Lord”, and it is generally believed that Michael and Gabriel are two of the other seven. Another possible interpretation of the “seven” is that the seven are the seven spirits of God that stand before the throne.
They are said to be the guardian angels of nations and countries, and are concerned with the issues and events surrounding these, including politics, military matters, commerce and trade: e.g. Archangel Michael is traditionally seen as the protector of Israel and of the Ecclesia (Gr. root ekklesia from the New Testament passages), theologically equated as the Church, the forerunner of the spiritual New Israel.
Beyond the angels are the beings we are used to calling the archangels, they tend the larger arenas of human endeavor. These beings are from a different family from the angels. There are many different kinds of archangels in this larger family. The four we are most familiar with are Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, and Uriel. The Archangels can actually belong to several levels, but they enjoy dealing with humans when and where they can. They are considered the “Special Forces” of the angelic realms. They channel positive energy to the physical from the divine and from the divine to the physical. They have different attributes for which I will later spell out in the section “Archangels”.
Angels – the Celestial Beings closest to humans. They act as intermediaries between the Almighty and humanity. Messengers that commune with various life forms within the physical worlds. This Order includes guardian angels of mankind, and as such, are the most accessible angels to humans. They are more properly named angels by humans than those of higher rank because their Order is more directly in contact with humans. We see them as spirit beings that exist to fulfill the tasks given to them by God. As their name suggests, they are chiefly messengers of God and/or higher Orders of angels. In Muslim tradition, two angels are assigned to each person at birth. One angel records the person’s good deeds while the second records bad deeds.
The angels that we are most familiar with are those in the last order. They are the closest to humanity, the ones most concerned with human affairs. Within the category of angels, there are many different different functions. The ones we know best are the guardian angels. Because of shifts in their functions and our consciousness, it is useful to think of these celestial beings as companion angels.
These are the angels assigned to us, such as our Guardian Angels. They are concerned with issues involving human and physical manifestation. They like the other angels, channel from divinity to us and from us to the divine.
They are our closest companions and are assigned to us through all incarnations on earth. They help us through the transformation of death and birth, help us to carry out our divine plans, defend us and help protect us when we are in trouble, and call in the forces of all of the other angels when we need them. They will not interfere with many things unless asked by us. When asking for help from the angels, be sure and be precise in asking for what you want, and be sure to keep your intentions pure. Your Guardian Angel can come from any of the levels and has an open line of communication with all of the angels in all levels.
The angels, messengers to mankind and the lowest order of angels, are the celestial beings most concerned with the comings and goings of mankind. They have many different jobs here on earth, but all are tasked with direct contact with humanity in some way.
Included in this order are guardian angels—angels who are assigned to specific individuals in order to guard, guide, and impart wisdom. Not all angels are guardian angels, but all guardians come from the angel tier. Whenever you feel a “hunch” or a bad feeling about something that turns out to be wholly accurate, it’s likely that it was actually a whispering from your guardian angel. Listen to these feelings, learn to discern them, differentiating them from mere worries or fears, and act on them.
Being farthest from the absolute perfection of God, the angels are most able to speak to us on our level, communicating in ways which our human minds can comprehend.
Bring to a close the last choir in the hierarchy and they are ever ready to go wherever the will of God sends them. They have two major tasks: Firstly they are the ordinary messengers sent to men to watch over mortals in a more direct manner than the principalities. They tend to mirror the goodness of God and direct it toward mortals. They help to protect and keep safe from demonic attack; households and individual souls, instead of entire nations.
Secondly they carry God’s word to mankind and act as messengers and couriers to both God and the upper ranks of angel kind. With a true sense of values, they minister to all, these ranges from sinners to the good and just. “In Hebrew, they are called mal’akh, meaning “messenger”, in Persian the word is angaros or “courier”.
Above all they realize that serving God in any capacity is a very great honor.
“For the Angels, as we have said, fill up and complete the lowest choir of all the Hierarchies of the Celestial Intelligences since they are the last of the Celestial Beings possessing the angelic nature.
And they, indeed, are more properly named Angels by us than are those of a higher rank because their choir is more directly in contact With manifested and mundane things.
The highest Order, as we have said, being in the foremost place near the Hidden One, must be regarded as hierarchically ordering in a bidden manner the second Order; and the second Order of Dominions, Virtues and Powers, leads the Principalities, Archangels and Angels more manifestly, indeed, than the first Hierarchy, but in a more hidden manner than the Order below it; and the revealing Order of the Principalities, Archangels and Angels presides one through the other over the human hierarchies so that their elevation and turning to God and their communion and union with Him may be in order; and moreover, that the procession from God, beneficently granted to all the Hierarchies, and visiting them all in common, may be with the most holy order.
Accordingly the Word of God has given our hierarchy into the care of Angels, for Michael is called Lord of the people of Judah, and other Angels are assigned to other peoples. For the Most High established the boundaries of the nation’s according to the number of the Angels of God.”
These angels are closest to the material world and human begins. They deliver the prayers to God and God’s answers and other messages to humans. Angels have the capacity to access any and all other Angels at any time. They are the most caring and social to assist those who ask for help.
“The angels that you’re most familiar with are those in the last order. They are the ones who are closest to humanity, the ones most concerned with human affairs. Within the category of angels, there are many different kinds, with different functions.. ..The ones that you know best….are the guardian angels. Because of shifts in their functions and your consciousness, it is useful to think of these celestial beings as companion angels. As you enter a time of increased light and love on the planet, they will not need to guard you, but rather will be your guides to greater and greater consciousness.” — This can be related directly to the transformation of the Earth into the Galactic Federation, with the Earth entering the photon belt, transmuting us into the Fourth Dimension. According to the Galactic Federation, we will be assisted during this time both by our own angelic hierarchy (above) and by mass landings of Humans from the Sirius star cluster.
Angels are from the unspecified unseen in the “all that is, seen and unseen” that the Nicene Creed says the Father created. They don’t decay or die, since they are spiritual beings. They exist to praise God and to bear the message and task for which God sends them, including to us humans. They can think and hold conversations, and they have their own identity. They even have some sort of rank, such as the archangels and the “angel of the Lord”. They appear to people of all religions, even people of no religion at all, when God wants them to listen. We can’t prove angels exist, any more than we can prove God exists; they are, after all, spiritual beings and don’t fit into material-world rules. Not all religious folks believe in angels (for instance, the Jewish Sadducee’s, and many modernist Christians). But all over the world, those who have a strong sense of spirituality tend to believe God sends supernatural envoys and heralds, and they sometimes experience their presence. Thus there are many angel reports from India, Malaysia, and other Asian countries. That’s no surprise, since God loves them, too.
The ancients couldn’t picture anything in the ‘pure’ world of heaven as being female or neuter, so they called them mostly what they felt was greatest – male. (A possible exception is in Zechariah 5, but the passage is cryptic at best.) Maybe we’re getting over such a narrow vision. Angels are often pictured as having feathered wings. The ancients believed the angels flew, so they portrayed it through the only means of flying they knew: the feathered wings of a bird. I suspect this image came in handy. They don’t need angel wings to fly (they’re supernatural beings), but wings of what would be the necessary size inspire awe in us ground-bound material-type beings. The angel-messengers are often reported and portrayed as glowing with light, especially as they deliver their message.
Guardian Angels – A guardian angel is an angel that is assigned to protect and guide a particular person, group, kingdom, or country. Belief in guardian angels can be traced throughout all antiquity. The concept of tutelary angels and their hierarchy was extensively developed in Christianity in the 5th century by Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite.
The role of the guardian angel is both to guide us to good thoughts, works and words, and to preserve us from evil.
Often called our “Guardian Angels.”
The Angels, also known as the Malakhim (messengers or angels), are the lowest order of the angels, and the most familiar to men. They are the ones most concerned with the affairs of living things. Within the category of angels, there are many different kinds, with different functions. The angels are sent as messengers to men.He has charged His angels with the ministry of watching and safeguarding every one of His creatures that behold not His face. Kingdoms have their angels assigned to them, and men have their angels; these latter it is to whom religion designates the Holy Guardian Angels. Our Lord says in the Gospel, “Beware lest ye scandalize any of these little ones, for their angels in heaven see the face of My Father.” The existence of Guardian Angels, is, hence a dogma of the Christian faith: this being so, what ought not our respect be for that sure and holy intelligence that is ever present at our side; and how great our solicitude be, lest, by any act of ours, we offend those eyes which are ever bent upon us in all our ways.
The angels stationed permanently by your side are called guardian angels. These are non-human celestial entities sent directly from the Creator. They are not our deceased loved ones, who, while they can definitely act like angels, are called spirit guides. Our departed friends and family members like all people living or deceased, all have egos. Although they may be well-meaning, their guidance isn’t as pure and trustworthy as that of guardian angels, who are with us from the moment we are born until our physical death.
No matter what we do in life our angels will never leave us. Guardian angels are protectors and guides, ensuring that we stay safe, happy, healthy, and fulfill our life mission. To fulfill our intention we must team up with our guardian angels. That means asking for help from them and then receiving the help they give us. We have at least 2 guardian angels by our sides at all times. One is loud and bold to make sure that you will work on your Divine life purpose: the other is quieter, and serves to comfort and sooth you. You can have more than two guardian angels, and there are benefits to being surrounded by additional ones. They act like a castle moat, protection you from negativity. The more angels you have with you, the stronger you’ll feel the sensation of their Divine Love and protection. It’s also easier to hear a whole choir of angels, rather than the voice or just one or two of them.
Invoke additional angels by requesting that God send them to you, by asking the angels directly or by visualizing yourself surrounded by more of them, You can ask for as many as you like.
Those who have had near death experiences have more guardian angels surrounding them. To help with their adjustment to life following their experiences on the Other Side.
Our angels are the messengers between us and our Creator. Every time God thinks of love a new angel is created.
Guardian Angels don’t all work in the same way. They seem to adapt their approach according to their personality or ours. Some angels are more hands-on than others. They like to make it clear that they are with us. Some are gentle and prefer to stand back and wait to be invited in.
Most angels use signs to show that they are with us. It’s hard for them to manifest fully into our dimension. Their world is so different from ours. Our human eyes find it almost impossible to see them.
No evil shall befall you, nor shall affliction come near your tent, for to His Angels God has given command about you, that they guard you in all your ways. Upon their hands they will bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
